Welcome Back, “Welcome Back Carter”

MWC’s comment on Who Didn’t Win the Nobel Peace Prize just reminded us of one of our earliest forays into Obama-rama: so from deep in the vault we’re reposting for your entertainment Dewey’s First Flatsimile Production: Welcome Back Carter.

  1. Thanks dewey. It brings back fond memories of previous eras of under employment, living communally and oh, those hysterical gas lines. I drove a VW Bug back then but because we lived 30 miles from the nearest affordable gas station...it took a lot of planning. A Yella (southern) Dog Democrat from birth, and the family all the way back to George's (Washington) time...before they even called themselves Democrats they were. So that's my excuse for voting for the peanut farmer...well that and also he was from the ancestral state, Georgia. I say that to give you an idea of what it took for me to reassess my political affiliation to Independent. Somehow I couldn't reconcile that Democrat R&B Committee meeting where they stole the primary for 0. My sense of fairness (rather than racism...I was a civil rights worker, after all) and honesty was offended to the core. Warning! I was an enthusiastic Clinton supporter...ah life was really, really good for the family bank account back then...but Monica was pretty devastating. I hope neither he or Jimmy still lust in their hearts or anywhere else for that matter.

PS: Since my conversion I see the error of my ways even if I still can't join the Reagan love fest...I look for results close to home and he just didn't pan out for us financially. Maybe that was our fault. But, My God do I appreciate the elegance and the culture they brought to the Capital. Wonder whether we'll ever have people in the WH again who know which fork to use?

  2. MWC, congratulations and heartfelt welcome to rational thinking. You need not be a Republican to participate. In fact many Repubs have no more idea how to think rationally than their erstwhile opponents.

I hope over time you might come around to appreciate Reagan's clear thinking on American principals and the role of limited government. But again, not mandatory.

To check in with a pilgrim on the same journey, click on the American Thinker link to the left, and search for Robin from Berkeley. She's had an interesting odyssey too.

  3. Dewey! Thanks so much for the tip on Robin of Berkeley. Just read her 10/1 post at American Thinker...fantastic. I'll be reading her regularly, thanks to you. I hope you don't mind if I quote your last post and Robin's comments to NoQuarterUSA...naturally with proper credit.
