Debbie Wasserman-Schultz: DWS. Not to be confused with DSK or KSM

In what alternate universe does a dolt like Debbie Wasserman- Schultz (not to be confused with DSK, KSM, DSW or the other DWS) pass as a brilliant political strategist?

DWS speaks in such moronic, proscribed soundbites that even BHO sounds articulate by comparison. And when she is off script, she sails into Howard Dean territory, making even the former DNC chairman sound well grounded. Perhaps those talents are precisely why she got the job.

More likely though is that like any good political operative (“strategist?”) she is willing to say anything that is required to advance her party’s position. Or whatever’s required to redirect the eye from reality to the preferred illusion, no matter how foolish it may make you sound, à la the James Carville/Paul Begala Clintonista- shtick.  And while being stupid is not a prerequisite for this type of political operative (Carville) it does help (Begala). I think DWS has demonstrated all of Begala’s qualifications.

I offer for your consideration these recent comments from the “little firecracker.”  You can reach your own conclusion regarding which bucket to drop her in.

Last week she accused Republicans of wanting to kill the American  auto industry for opposing the auto bailout;

67625_5_

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), the chairwoman of the DNC, ripped into Republican presidential contenders who opposed President Obama's 2009 bailouts for General Motors and Chrysler.

"If it were up to the candidates for president on the Republican side, we would be driving foreign cars; they would have let the auto industry in America go down the tubes…"

But according to Florida motor vehicle records, the Wasserman Schultz household owns a 2010 Infiniti FX35,(a Nissan)… The car appears to be hers, since its license plate includes her initials. (DWS)

Of course voting for a taxpayer bailout of the auto unions  companies is far more advantageous to American capitalism than  – oh, I don’t know - actually buying one of their cars. Newsflash to Congresswoman DWS, Nissan: not an American auto company. Please don’t vote to bail out Nissan or Toyota in the future by mistake. Which I guess you wouldn’t anyway, as they are mostly non-union shops.

Point two - and I don’t want to be too critical here because this is a very complicated legal principle –  but DWS is highly incensed that Republicans think that being in this country illegally should be a crime:

I think the president was clearly articulating that his position — the Democrats position — is that we need comprehensive immigration reform. We have 12 million undocumented immigrants in this country that are part of the backbone of our economy. And that is not only a reality but a necessity. And that it would be harmful if — the Republican solution that I’ve seen in the last three years is that we should just pack them all up and ship them back to their own countries, and that in fact it should be a crime and we should arrest them all. I mean that was the legislation that Jim Sensenbrenner advanced a couple of years ago.

DWS apparently doesn’t realize that being an illegal alien in this country already is, um… illegal. That’s why we use to call them “illegal” aliens before the thought police took charge.

But it looks like DWS could use a little “coaching” on this concept before she’s ready for prime time (Chris Matthews or Lawrence O’Donnell might be good).

Maybe this will help: according to current law: the first time a person enters the country ILLEGALLY, it’s a CRIMINAL MISDEMEANOR. If the person is then deported and reenters the country ILLEGALLY,  it’s a CRIMINAL FELONY- eligible for jail time. Two words in the law that provide clues to the illegality of the situation: “CRIMINAL” and “FELONY.”

Now in case you’re thinking DWS’s just stupid, don’t go there. In fact, she received  a Bachelor of Arts in 1988 and a Master of Arts – with a certificate in political campaigning - in 1990, both in Political Science! From the University of Florida in Gainesville!!

So take that Sarah Palin – you probably didn’t even know you could get a masters degree in political campaigning.

Now remind me: why does the media think that Sarah Palin is an idiot? I mean besides the fact she doesn’t subscribe to the doctrine of global warming, the sacrament of abortion, and thinks that  drilling our own oil and gas would be a good idea to help decrease our dependence on foreign oil? Oh that’s right, because Chris Matthews says so.

I’m sure big mouth Debbie is great at hectoring people into coughing up money for the DNC coffers, and I’m sure she  knows way more about certain types of political campaigning than Sarah Palin. But in order to avoid embarrassing the Democrats - assuming that’s even possible  - I have a little test she can take. In order to pass, she would be required to reliably identify all three of the following symbols.

japanese-flag

american-flag

Unlike in school, 2 out of three is not a passing grade.

Good luck Debbie! And if you do need a little tutoring, I understand that Katie is now available.

Lest We Forget

Memorial Day is commemorated in small towns across America all year long. This is about one of those memorials, originally posted on March 12, 2011, for one of those fallen heroes.

I repost it today, Memorial Day, in hope that we never forget why we fight, why we must fight and why we mourn.

*************************************************

Taking Zac…

Why do we mourn our fallen heroes?

lest we forget

In the words of Harry S. Truman,

Lest We Forget

“Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid . They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices.”

A1C Zac Cuddeback was shot in the head by an Islamofascist in Germany last week. Yesterday he made his final return home to O'Fallon, Illinois.  He will be laid to eternal rest today, March 12, 2011. Officiating will be Father Bill Hitpas, who also baptized Zac just 21 years ago at St. Nicholas’s church.

St. Clare parishHe was welcomed home last evening in a procession that made it’s way from nearby Scott Air Force Base to Zac’s uncle’s house in O’Fallon. The processional route was lined with 1000 flags  provided by the VFW and placed by local townspeople.

Also lining the route as Zac came home were his airmen colleagues from the Air Force Base, a local Boy Scout Troop, and hundreds of people who just wanted to turn out to express their condolences and to offer a small thanks to Zac. Instead, to their surprise, Zac’s family thanked them for coming. These are the kind of people you’re likely to find in fly over country.

The somber military procession began  at the Air Force base and rolled slowly through town. It was headed up by fire and emergency trucks from surrounding towns and over 200 Patriot Guard Riders who  have made it their mission to accompany fallen heroes to their final resting place, and to shelter and protect the family from the likes of viral protestors from Westboro Baptist church.

Earlier last week people, churches, businesses and schools all over town honored Zac in any way they could. To some people it might seem a perfunctory gesture and even inconsequential, especially in comparison to the sacrifice made by Zac. But imagine if Zac were your son, brother, grandson, husband, nephew or friend. You would feel otherwise. You would feel the small gesture was quite profound. And you would be grateful.

183622_208184769198529_100000210234414_974837_4534676_n 184826_208184215865251_100000210234414_974822_1301913_n 189602_208083402541999_100000210234414_973879_6212276_n zach2197448_208083829208623_100000210234414_973892_6987990_nBecause you would know that sometimes simply recognizing great sacrifice is all we can do.

Also in advance of yesterday’s funeral cortege, airmen and locals turned out to plant flags along the entire funeral route.

They began in the cornfields outside of town,

184850_208086815874991_100000210234414_973922_7561944_n

continued into town:

189019_208184685865204_100000210234414_974834_7119967_n

and through the suburban style neighborhoods

to the home of Zac’s uncle, where he laid last night.

If you’ve seen Taking Chance, the story of Lt. Col. Michael Strobl’s mission as a military escort accompanying the body of a fallen Marine home to his family in Wyoming, you might better understand the sense of honor and dignity that overwhelms everyone involved in delivering a fallen soldier home.

taking chance

There is nothing inauthentic in this journey. People turn out simply to bow their heads and thank the selfless soldier who gave his own life to protect our values and way of life. You form the natural sort of bond that we do with our guardians. It is not one that can be manufactured of - or from - cheap emotions. Rather, it is an indelible linkage to something in our life that’s good and true.  It is at once simple and profound: a bond that requires no words to explain why we fight, and why we must.

Lest we forget.

Monday, May 16: we just blew through the debt ceiling. WTF now, Barry.

From today’s email (H/T Lee A). I call it “Bureaucracy 101” and it certainly applies to the private sector as well as the public sector. The difference being in the private sector when the SHTF, grownups step in to clean up and/or close up. That never happens in government at any level, where all accounts remain unaccountable. Which is why we just blew through the debt ceiling.

This power point was set to music by the Menlo Park Firefighters, and since it’s been around awhile, no one seems to know its origin. I promise you will relate on some level:

And this, my fellow citizens, explains why we have added over 200,000 new federal employees in the past two years, we have no coherent energy policy, foreign policy or fiscal policy and we’ve blown through the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling as of today.

The Democrats want to address the issue by raising both the debt ceiling and taxes. Which I suppose will allow us to hire more cockroaches, spiders, flies, cicadas and owls while getting rid of the pesky ants.  Seems like a sound plan to end the recession. Because every moron (I’m talking about you, Paul Krugman) knows that businesses should cut back during recessions, but governments should expand.

Yes, there are more demands for government services in certain areas during a recession. But a trillion dollar shovel ready BS stimulus plan was 100% discretionary, 100% ineffective and 100% dumb. Otherwise, the recession would be over by now, the debt ceiling would be in tact and ants everywhere would once again be productive.

And now you know why they aren’t.

The Problem With Useful Idiots

Originally posted Thursday, May 12, 2011 but lost in the great Google-Blogger caper. Will take this down if and when Blogger recovers the Thursday posts as promised.

Prior to “brainstorming” with Obama, Eva Longoria – actress, student and desperate housewife - posed for a few PR photos in front of the Capital Building in order to add gravitas to her role as Administration mouthpiece:

article-1384134-0BED3C3E00000578-777_468x682Dressed for Capital success

When she emerged from her “brainstorming” with Obama she repeated the directive she and the other Hispanic Obots (HOBOTS?) received:

‘The people who were in that room have a very strong presence in media so we have to help reshape the immigration talk and rhetoric about it being about xenophobia or anti-immigration. It's really an economic decision', she explained.

The problem with useful idiots is that they don’t know they’re being used. Or that they’re idiots.

They are not to be confused with the likes of Lady Gaga, who knows exactly who’s using who:

She said during a news conference Friday she has a strong relationship to Mexican culture,

translation: “Mexicans buy a lot of my CDs,”

then added: "I don't stand by many of those unjust immigration laws in my country."

and I’m counting on my newest song ‘Americano,’ about that very injustice, to carry my next album, Born This Way, to the top of the charts here in Mexico.

Of the two breeds, self-promoters like Lady Gaga are far less dangerous than the useful idiots. Of course they’re all targeting the same market. It’s just that the useful idiots are part and parcel of the very market they’ve been dispatched to tap into. Whereas the Lady Gagas use the idiots directly for their own purposes.

Vindication

vindication

Congratulations, Mr. Obama.

We’re pleased that your “gutsy” decision (Where did I hear that phrase? Oh yeah - everywhere.) resulted in the take down of OBL, one of the worst terrorists and mass murderers of all time. A shame, though, that the President hadn’t been a bit more gracious in acknowledging how he got to this rodeo.

And ironic that he could have taken a lesson in graciousness from the the most reviled Vice President of all time:

Dick Cheney said he gives President Obama "high marks" for the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, telling Fox News Sunday, "I think he handled it well."

Graciousness. It’s a pretty basic characteristic of effective leaders.

Osama’s Last View of Life on Earth: as Seen Through Panties

Some of us consider Obama’s decision to withhold pictures of the dead OBL as pandering to the sensitivities of adherents of the religion of peace.

While we debate the pros and cons of that position, we will have to settle for the last picture of Muhammad’s handmaiden taken before he was sent to his eternal rewards compliments of the US Navy SEALS:

bin laden with panties copy Panties by Hanky Panky

Apparently he was tortured in typical abusive American fashion before being being sent to sleep with the fishes.

Back to the actions taken since OBL’s death: the Muslim funeral preparations, burial at sea and the blackout of photo images of the dead Satanic hearse. The president has said that bin Laden did not represent Muslims or the Muslim faith; that “we are not at war with Islam.” On the other hand, much of the Muslim world seems to be treating him as a martyr and threatening retribution.

We just can’t have it both ways, kids: if he’s going to be treated as a martyr (i.e. if we release photos) than it would appear as how he does represent Muslims, or at least a faction thereof. If we insist that he doesn’t represent Islam, doesn’t reflect Islamic doctrine and is actually just a radical terrorist who has killed thousands of people; then he ought not be treated with the deference of a Muslim in good standing.

If he’s a terrorist he should be treated like a terrorist. If, however, certain adherents of the religion of peace wish to make him into a martyr of Islam without disavowal by the rest of the practitioners, than they do accept him, his precepts, his doctrines and his tactics. In which case they ARE our enemy, even if you parse and compartmentalize by calling it “radical Islam.” By allowing any faction of their faith to accept this pig as a martyr they are making all Islam radical.

“We will not tire. We will not falter. And we will not fail.” George W. Bush

UBL has been killed by US Special Services. I understand he was shot in the face which, while brutal, seems too good for the demise of such evil scum. And burial at sea seems far too civilized.

I would just like to say thank you to everyone involved, including our President. But the heavy lifting was obviously done by the CIA and the Navy Seals and they deserve our greatest admiration and undying gratitude. We sleep soundly because they are on watch.

Oh, and a special thank you to President George W. Bush, because President Obama forgot to mention the man who began this mission of justice.

“We will not tire. We will not falter. And we will not fail.”

MOTUS has the rest of the story.
